Hacktoberfest 2020

October is almost here, and for the global open source community that means one thing: It's Hacktoberfest time! Join the Okteto, Cloud Native and the global open source communities and help change the world, one pull request at a time.
All our open source repos are looking for contributors, so come join us!
What is Hacktoberfest?
Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open source software organized by DigitalOcean. The idea behind it is to encourage people of all backgrounds and skills to contribute to open source projects. Open four or more high-quality pull requests in October in any public repositories to get a limited edition Hacktoberfest T-shirt!
Last year during Hacktoberfest, more than 480,000 pull requests were opened and more than 60,000 people completed the challenge 🤯. And I have a feeling that this year that record is going to be broken.
Hacktoberfest is open to everyone. Whether you’re new to development, a student, long-time contributor, you can help drive growth of open source and make positive contributions to our community. Everyone is welcome!
How do I Start?
All you need to do to join Hacktoberfest is to start contributing to the open source project of your choice.
If you've never submitted a pull request, this video is a great way to get started.
Contribute to Okteto and win a T-Shirt
You can contribute to any of our open source projects to qualify for the Hacktoberfest prize. In particular, we're looking for contributions on these areas:
- Support for ARM clusters in the okteto CLI.
- Improve the experience of Windows users
- Integrate your favorite applications with Okteto.
- Improve our VSCode extensions: Remote Kubernetes and Kubernetes Context.
You can contribute to any of the existing issues, or open a new one. Make sure that the issue and pull request you're working on has the hacktoberfest
label, for you to have a chance at getting the limited edition Hacktoberfest T-Shirt. See the participation rules for more details.
See you Online
Hacking together is a lot more fun. You can find us on the okteto channel in the Kubernetes slack and on twitter. Can't wait to hear what you're working on!
Happy hacking!
PS We're planning a few surprises and collaborations during October, stay tuned 📺.
